Polycoat RBE 10 emulsified rubber modified bitumen coating
AED84.00 – AED522.00
Polycoat RBE 10 is an emulsified rubber-modified bitumen coating that dries to create a tough, seamless, flexible, and vapor-proof protective coating. It complies with the requirements of ASTM D 1227 Type III, Class 1.
Properties:
- Cold applied.
- Single-component and easy to apply.
- Can be applied on damp substrates.
- Suitable for use in closed or confined areas.
- Water-based.
- Exhibits good resistance against chloride and sulfate ions.
- Has excellent adhesion to most building substrates.
- Seamless and joint-free.
Step by Step Instructions:
Surface Preparation: The surface must be thoroughly cleaned to remove all contaminants such as dust, curing compound residues, oil, and grease. Depending on the degree of contamination, you may use light mechanical grinding, grit blasting, or a high-pressure water jet to clean the surface. Any imperfections or protrusions on the surface should be removed and repaired. Structurally unsound or friable concrete should be replaced and repaired with a suitable Polycrete concrete repair mortar.
Priming: It is highly recommended to apply a primer coat before applying Polycoat RBE 10. The primer can be prepared on-site by diluting Polycoat RBE 10 with 20% water and applying this diluted coat. For very dry and porous substrates, apply two coats of this primer. The primer can even be applied to damp or freshly cast concrete surfaces, but avoid applying it in waterlogged areas. Further coats should only be applied after the primer coat has completely dried. If there’s a delay in applying the top coat for more than 24 hours, reapply a fresh coat of primer.
Foundation Damp Proofing: Thoroughly stir the contents of the drum to remove all sediments before application. Depending on the required dry film thickness, apply the rubberized bitumen coating at a rate of 1-4 square meters per liter per coat. On vertical surfaces, it’s advisable to apply the coating in multiple layers to prevent sagging. Subsequent coats should only be applied after the previous coat has completely dried and should be applied perpendicular to the previous coat. You can broadcast clean, dry sand onto the wet coating to provide a key for subsequent coats and achieve a greater dry film thickness. The coating should be applied and finished up to the level of the damp-proof course (DPC). If plaster or cement render is to be applied to the bitumen-coated surface, broadcast clean, dry sand onto the coating while it is still wet. Allow the coating to cure for at least 48 hours before applying any protection board or backfilling. Ensure that the first coat is not punctured during the application of the second coat. However, if the coating is damaged, you can readily apply an overcoat provided that the surface preparation is done correctly.
Protection: Protect the Polycoat RBE 10 coating from damage during ongoing site activities and backfilling. Horizontal surfaces can be protected by a 50mm thick cement-sand screed or an asphaltic protection board (Bituboard). On vertical surfaces, the membrane must be protected with Bituboard, which can be fixed on the membrane using double-sided bitumen adhesive tape (Watertite TS 15).
